Abstract:

The dissertation proposes a three-dimensional model that allows for the study of state behavior in critical periods of political system transition. The study shows that international organizations and the constitutive formulation of international norms have an overall positive impact on peaceful systmic change. This thesis is tested with the impact of OECD norm formulation during the 1989 changes in Eastern European countries.
