In heterogenous domains like mechatronic systems exists a variety of different devices and components which have to communicate with each other. However, the descriptions of these components are often expressed by various different specification methods. The design of such systems, thus, requires the need of integrating these specifications with each other in a suitable manner. The focus of this paper lies in a consistent design of Function Block Adapters (FBAs). FBAs are responsible for the connection of UML capsules and function blocks (FBs) of the IEC 61131-3 (standard for PLC programming languages). They contain an interface to capsules as well as to FBs and a description of the mapping between these interfaces: signals from one component have to be translated to signals of the other one according to the requirements and vice versa. This denotes consistency wrt an FBA. Consistency during the design of an FBA may be achieved by integration using the ViewPoint framework. This framework provides an intuitive understanding of different specifications involved in the development process, on the one side. On the other side the ViewPoint framework allows for a consistent integration of these specifications due to its underlying formalization by distributed graph transformation.
