Abstract:
The German Educational Standards are divided into four areas of competence. All areas of competence are evaluated in a nationwide
assessment. In the paper the assessment of the area of competence “acquirement of knowledge” is described. The test items are constructed
using a model of competence which describes the “complexity” and the “cognitive processes” as aspects of tasks which present difficulty.
