Temperature imaging in spray flames
Two-dimensional gas- and liquid-phase temperature fields were measured in an ethanol spray flame. Multi-line NO-LIF thermometry was used for gas-temperature imaging. This recently developed technique has now successfully been applied to temperature measurements in the presence of droplets in an ethanol spray flame. Additional meas-urements have been carried out in evaporating ethanol and acetone sprays at room temperature to investigate evapo-rative cooling effects. Temperature precision of 1800 ±60 K (±3.3%) and 295 ±6 K (±2%) could be reached in the flame and the evaporating spray respectively. The liquid-phase temperature distribution in the reactive ethanol spray was observed with two-color tracer-LIF thermometry. The combination of both, gas- and liquid-phase temperature imaging complement each other and therefore provide a good data base for comparisons with modeling results.
