Synthesis of the bicyclopropenyls.

Abstract:
Bicyclopropenyls (I,II,III) have been synthesized by the vacuum gas-phase elimination of b-halocyclopropylsilane precursors over solid fluoride. Bicycloprop-2-enyl I and bicycloprop-1,2'-enyl II were isolated and characterized using std. spectroscopic techniques whereas bicycloprop-1-enyl III could only be generated in situ and trapped by cyclopentadiene.
