Abstract:

The complex LiAl(PH2)4 functions as an excellent nucleophilic transfer reagent for the phosphanyl group (PH2), as was shown by its reaction with SiCl4 and GeCl4 to give tetraphosphanylsilane and tetraphosphanylgermane, resp. Tetraphosphanylsilane was characterized by 1H, 31P and 29Si NMR spectroscopy and x-ray crystallog. (monoclinic, space group P21/c, R1 = 0.0479).
