Abstract:
The prepn. of a series of tentacled organoiron and org. compds. resulting from the Fe(h5-C5H5)+ mediated hexa-p-alkoxybenzylation of hexamethylbenzene is achieved in one pot with variable chain lengths; the x-ray crystal structure of [Fe(h5-C5H5)C6(CH2CH2-p-EtOC6H4)6]+ PF6- (I; R = Et) shows two proximal chains and four distal ones.
