Abstract:

Chemo- and stereoselectivity in oxidns. of tricarbonyl(5-aryl-h4-1,3-cyclohexadiene)iron complexes, e.g., I, is achieved by the choice of the oxidizing reagent. This procedure provides Fe-complexed 4a,9a-dihydro-9H-carbazoles, 4b,8a-dihydrocarbazol-3-ones, and 4-deoxycarbazomycin B.
