2-(Dimethylaminomethyl)ferrocenyl derivatives of titanium and zirconium - limits of chelating interactions.
The new paramagnetic (h5-C5H5)2Ti(FcN)2 (I; FcN = 2-[dimethylaminomethyl]ferrocenyl, C5H5 = cyclopentadienyl) and diamagnetic (h5-C5H5)2Zr(1-Camph)(FcN) (II; 1-Camph = 1-camphenyl) complexes were prepd. and characterized by spectra and magnetic measurements. The crystal and solid phase mol. structures of (h5-C5H5)2M(FcN)2 [M = Ti (III) and Zr (IV)] compds. were detd. by single crystal X-ray diffraction. An M-C, N chelation of the (dimethylaminomethyl)ferrocenyl ligand was detected at compds. I (solid phase) and II (soln.), while such interaction fails at complexes III and IV in cryst. phase.
