Abstract:

The reaction of (h5-C5H5)2MCl2 (M = Zr, Hf) with 2 equiv LiP(SiMe3)2 afforded (h5-C5H5)2M[P(SiMe3)2]2. Treatment of (h5-C5H5)2HfCl2 with an equimolar amt. of LiP(SiMe3)2 led to (h5-C5H5)2Hf(Cl)[P(SiMe3)2]. (h5-C5H5)2M(Me)[P(SiMe3)2] (M = Zr, Hf) were obtained by metathesis of (h5-C5H5)2M(Me)Cl with LiP(SiMe3)2. X-ray anal. of (h5-C5H5)2Hf[P(SiMe3)2]2 showed 2 distinct types of phosphide ligands.
