Ion exchangers were effectively disinfected with 0.02% HO2Ac [79-21-0]. The rate of disinfection was greater when the exchanger was in the regenerated (Na) rather than the spent (Ca) form. There was, however, no residual effect after completion of treatment and Ag was required.
