A review. The biofilms represent the oldest form of life on Earth that maintains an enormous capacity for survival through billions of years. The mechanisms of microorganism biofilm resistance are diverse. For practical purposes this means that it is very difficult to kill microorganisms in biofilms because a small population of microbes often survives. Quick and complete soln. of the biofilm problem does not exist - it depends on characteristics of specific defense systems.
