The structure of 2-(diphenylphosphino)phenyllithium: the significance of phosphorus-lithium bonding.
The solid-state structure of 2-Ph2PC6H4Li.OEt2 was detd. by single-crystal x-ray crystallog. The crystal consists of dimeric aggregates in which the Li atoms are solvated by an addnl. Et2O mol. The compd. retains the dimeric structure in PhMe, but in THF it exists in monomeric form. Ab initio calcns. indicate a small but significant influence of P-Li interaction on the stability and structure of P-contg. organolithium compds.
