Abstract:

The fine structure was studied in the differential scattering cross sections of K and Na at. beams by Kr, Ne, Xe, and Ar. The origin of the left-right asymmetry in the scattering cross sections is discussed in terms of excited energy levels. Oscillations in the cross sections are identified as Stuechelberg oscillations. Possible scattering potentials are given.
