Abstract:

An improved speciation technique is presented for metal(loid)org. compds., enabling identification and quantification of species from twelve elements: Ge, As, Se, Mo, Sn, Sb, Te, I, W, Hg, lead and Bi. At this time it is possible to identify 29 species with b.ps. between -88.5 Deg and 250 Deg in gaseous, liq. and solid samples in a few minutes. This study shows as an example results from measurements of soil samples from municipal waste deposits. The HG/LT-GC/ICP-MS (hydride generation/low temp.-gas chromatog./inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry) app. contains a home-built gas chromatograph that enables satisfactory sepn. of various species with a b.p. difference of >= 14 Deg. The abs. detection limits for the elements mentioned above were <0.7 pg.
