Abstract:

Both fibrous (from the vein) and nonfibrous (from the wall rock) chrysotile [12001-29-5] samples were analyzed for Si, Mg, Fe3+, Fe2+, Cr, Mn, Co, Ni, Ti, Al, Ca, and Sr. A comparison of the compns. of these 2 types of chrysotiles suggested that Cr was mostly retained in the rock; Ca and Sr were incorporated in the fibers to a moderate degree. The major elements Si and Mg showed .apprx.100% transition.
