Abstract:

A review on the neurotoxic effects of the metal ions of lead and mercury. The preponderance of available evidence supports the concept that astroglia are the major site for the deposition of several neurotoxic metals in the brain. In the case of lead, astroglia appear to be the principal cellular site of accumulation.
