Analytical automatons in water analysis. Rapid multiparameter analysis.

Abstract:
An anal. automaton used in clinics for the detn. of std. blood parameters was evaluated for its use in water anal. Reagent solns. similar to those used in cuvette tests for the detn. of different water parameters were used for evaluation. Reagent and sample solns. were automatically pipetted into the measuring cells, mixed, and photometrically analyzed. Reagent solns. for the anal. of Al, NH4+, Cl-, Cr(VI), CN-, Fe, F-, total hardness, NO3-, NO2-, PO43-, and SO42- were tested. Calibrations were performed with external stds. The detection limits for all the parameters tested were below the detection limits required by the German drinking water regulation. Depending on the test parameter the system had to be calibrated daily or once to twice per wk. In general 50 mL sample per test parameter were analyzed. The reproducibility was .apprx.5% for each parameter. In general besides surface water samples also wastewater sample can be analyzed.
