Abstract:

A review with 16 refs. on quality control to verify the identity of products and raw materials from chem. and pharmaceutical industries using NIR-spectrometric methods. However many anal. chemists are not sure how to est. or even discuss the reliability and security of such systems. In this paper a simple information theor. concept is applied to describe the uncertainty and other statistical properties of spectrometric and qual. anal. methods in general.
