A field model for the numeric simulation of heat radiation from soot-forming flames in accidental fires was developed and initial results from a rotationally sym. ethylene diffusion flame are presented. Math. and phys. fundamentals of the model modules are described. The field model allows to calc. space- and time-resolved values for temp., species, and radiation in the flame and to det. the effect of radiation on the environment. Two common semi-empirical models are also briefly presented.
