Abstract:

HZSM 5 zeolite was used to convert MeCl to hydrocarbons. The product distribution of the conversion of MeCl was comparable to that of the conversion of MeOH on HZSM 5. A rapid catalyst deactivation was due to the enhanced coking induced by the adsorbed HCl in the zeolitic pore system. Increased activity of the catalyst for a prolonged time can be reacted by modification of either reaction parameters or the zeolite chem.
