Self-organized ball-shaped molecular assemblies in water.
A trisphosphonate and various triammonium and trisamidinium compds., all contg. a C3 axis of symmetry, form strong 1:1 complexes in methanol and water. The structural information about these complexes is best explained in terms of self-assembly by means of a cyclic array of alternating charges resulting in the geometrical shape of a mol. capsule.
