Abstract:

Rheooptical Fourier-transform IR spectroscopy was used to monitor the onset, progress, and decay of strain-induced crystn. in loading-unloading cycles of S-vulcanized natural rubber and radiation-crosslinked isoprene rubber at 300 K and 343 K. The orientation of the av. polymer and the polymer chains in the strain-induced crystal phase was discussed on the basis of the short-time spectroscopic data.
