Analysis of orientational relaxation in binary blends of uniform polystyrene by rheo-optical Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy.

Rheo-optical FTIR spectroscopy was used to measure orientation and orientational relaxation in binary blends of long- and short-chain linear polystyrene. The film samples had been stretched at const. strain rate at various temps. above the glass temp. While long chain orientation is only weakly effected by the presence of short chains, the orientation of the short chains themselves shows a strong mol. wt. dependence.
