The following questions are addressed with regard to 1H NMR imaging of solids: (1) when should one use line narrowing, (2) what line narrowing is best for a given sample, and (3) what results may be realistically expected. The discussion considers 2 generalized imaging expts., and conclusions are reached based both on the exptl. time and on the max. no. of vol. elements which may be obsd. across a sample. Attention is focused on those which are pertinent to line narrowing.
