Heteronuclear J-resolved solid-state NMR of filled natural rubber.

The presence of carbon black fillers in vulcanized natural rubber introduced microscopic inhomogeneities and residual dipolar couplings. Both effects were averaged to a great extent by magic-angle spinning, allowing J-resolved NMR spectra to be recorded in the solid state. The results were compared to those of adamantane plastic crystals.
