A laser-photolysis laser induced fluorescence study of the rate constant for the reaction methoxy (CH3O) + atomic oxygen -> products at 298 K.
The kinetics of the reaction CH3O + O -> products at 298 K has been investigated using laser-induced fluorescence for the time-resolved detection of CH3O radicals. The rate const. k1 is found to be (2.5 +- 0.7) * 10-11 cm3/s. The reaction is assumed to proceed by at least two different product channels, (a) CH3 + O2 and (b) CH2O + OH, with the yield of (b) being 20 +- 10% of the total.
