After the great success of the international course of lectures in the last winter semester at the University of Duisburg-Essen a new lecture series will be offered in winter semester 2007/08. This time the international course of lectures will be offered in cooperation between the Department of Educational Sciences of the University Duisburg- Essen and the German Institute of Adult Education (DIE). Beside the initiator Prof. Ekkehard Nuissl von Rein our expected DAAD- guest professor Dr. Esther Oliver will contribute to the international course of lectures. The topic of this year’s lecture is “Trends in Adult and Continuing Education in Europe”. Furthermore five experts will come to Campus Essen to speak about trends in their countries. The International Course of Lectures is a part of the European Master in Adult Education (EMAE); this is a Master Programme which was developed by eight European Universities between 2004 and 2007. It was co-financed by the SOKRATES-Programme of the European Union. This essay provides an overview of different fields related to Adult Education in Spain as well as an approximation to the trends towards democratization in AE, which will be the main core of the presentation within the International Course: Spanish contexts of AE: trends towards democratisation.
